Elements Support Services specializes in rehabilitation support services meeting the community rehabilitation needs of children, youth and adults with an acquired brain injury or other serious trauma. Our Rehabilitation Support Workers utilize their significant skills in supporting individuals in reaching their full potential. Services are designed to assist the person to enhance personal awareness of strengths and limitations, to continue the development of emotional confidence, including feelings of self-worth, while integrating social, recreational and productive endeavors into his or her daily life. We are committed to ensuring that our clients receive individualized community based services that will enable the individual to attain a preferred quality of life.
For the past 10 years, Elements Support Services has provided services throughout South Central Ontario, Greater Toronto and the Greater Hamilton and Niagara Regions. Our innovative unique approaches to service delivery include:
eCommunity Support – along with our colleagues Dee Sperry and Margo Kindree we helped to pioneer a new concept in service delivery, utilizing eCoaches and video platforms to support individuals who live remotely or who require services to be delivered in non-traditional modes.
Trillium Support Services – a first of its kind social enterprise Trillium is committed to meeting the care needs of children, youth, and adults with developmental delays and complex special needs. As a social enterprise, profits are reinvested in our users programs, in training of our Social Care Workers, in using technology to enhance lives and investing in families
Solus Support Services – a social enterprise meeting the social care needs of individuals with ABI, Dementia and other neuro cognitive ailments.
Elements plays an active role in promoting the needs of people with acquired brain injuries. It is our passion for supporting individuals that leads us to continue to sponsor and volunteer with many local organizations. In addition you will see our commitment to numerous committees, boards and work groups.
Our managing Directors, Paul Mc Cormack and James Gillam together have over 70 years of experience working with individuals with complex needs. As experienced practitioners they have developed their capacity to think strategically about the management of resource obstacles and opportunities while adopting flexible, creative, innovative, practical and effective solutions in order to meet complex needs. They provide overall organizational leadership and work directly with the staff team to ensure that Elements Support Services and its affiliated agencies exceed clients expectations.
Paul McCormack BIO
Paul is a Managing Director at Elements Support Services. Paul has worked with people with multiple complex special needs for the past 30 years. He has specialized in community based services for people with an acquired brain injury for the past 20 years and his contributions to the sector were recognized in 2011 with the Professional of the Year Award from the Ontario Brain Injury Association. Paul has also consulted extensively to Skylark Children, Youth and Families supporting people with mental health, cognitive and developmental issues. He established the Toronto Centralized Access Mechanism for Residential Services and worked with the Toronto community of service providers in the establishment of the Complex Care Special Needs Team – an innovative model of service delivery for children and youth with developmental and cognitive special needs. In 2008, Paul was recognized by the United Way through the Bhayana Professional Dedication Award for his efforts in working with the ‘hard to serve’. Paul has been a lecturer at George Brown College, sat on numerous advisory committees and presented at conferences throughout Canada. Paul takes pride in supporting his community and is a past board member of the Ontario Brain Injury Association, a founding board member of the Toronto Brain Injury Society, a past President of the Board of Directors for the Burlington Art Centre, served on the boards of the Burlington Economic Development Committee and Burlington Business Improvement Association.
James Gillam BIO
James is a Managing Director at Elements Support Services. Jim, a social worker by training, has worked in the public sector supporting society’s most vulnerable people for over three decades. James spent some of those years working with behaviourally challenging children as a play/art therapist. In addition, he has been consulting with children and adults presenting with acquired brain injury for the past 15 years. He is widely recognized for his clinical insights and his talents in ensuring clients are always at the centre of everything we do. A self-professed techy James leads the way in understanding how the latest in technology, smartphones, tablets and software can makes our work more efficient and more effective in meeting our clients ever changing needs. An accomplished Canadian author having a number of children’s and adult books to his credit, published and available worldwide.
